Hopping Trains

Thanh Ngo  x  NXT Modeling Agency

When Thanh first contacted me about this shoot, I knew his look was so perfect for high fashion, so naturally I had extremes in mind. I originally planned a mountain village shoot in Vail, but when the distance from Denver posed an issue for the crew, I scouted this rugged old abandoned train yard area near the outskirts of Downtown Denver, complete with several trains, old sets of tracks, an RV, and what appeared to be a small chemical plant. It seemed pretty much empty, and it was oddly perfect!! I was beyond ready with a vision to have us hop some serious real life trains for some stealth birds eye magic!

Thanh, and the stylist Hannah and I met up on an icy chilly morning to shoot this fantastic set. Hannah was beyond amazing and supplied us with an entire wardrobe from the local and awesome Spruce Men's Barber and Clothier. We were completely equipped with the perfect threads for the tone and mood of the shoot. We started off with my favorite style of weird twiggy branches, and then made our way over to the train, shooting off the sides and the ladders, and of course (assuming no one was watching) we climbed to the top and threw a mini shoot victory dance. I was so proud Thanh made the train climb, and Hannah captured the whole event for us on the ground, complete with thoughtfully epic background music. We ended the shoot posing with a dumpster, cuz obviously hobos and hopping trains and dumpsters go perfectly together. Hahaha But really though, we made it fabulous.
