Cover Story // Shuba Magazine Vol. 14

Genevieve is my Girlllll!! Haha This was our 2nd shoot together within just a few weeks because we just have such a literal blast working together! After our intro shoot went so well, she told me wanted to put together something more creative and “Burning Man / Festival Style” which if you happened to have read my last blog post, you would know that’s prettyyyy much my thing. Haha So I grabbed my (still packed from the Burn) accessories suitcase and we headed down to the El Dorado Dry Lake in the early a.m. (Playa dust coated boots included) and we made the vision happen!

The shoot was 3 Looks:

1 Dark but Pretty, 1 Fierce and Smoky, and the last 1 which I like to call “Tie Dye Cleopatra.” Haha

Matt and I arrived earlyyyy as F to mess around and shoot In Dust I Trust, at the peak of sunrise (with only like 2 hours of sleep… Cough cough lol) Then Genevieve arrived shortly after, with her adorable lil Frenchie in tow, and we drove across the Dry Lake to the edge, where the solar panels begin.

Each look we put together as we went along. Genevieve had brought the buckle Fashion Nova bodysuit set, and I supplied the rest! I was really stoked to shoot the Spencer’s Captain Hat that I snagged especially for the Burn for only $40! It’s a gem… Literally lol And no one could believe I found it for so cheap! (Believe me, I scoured the Internet for weeks seeing if I could find anything better for less than $100… Which I don’t even know why I even bothered Haha.) We decided to go classic festival style with Look 1, adding the holographic goggles, bejeweled Demonia platforms, and a leg harness!

Look 2 was all about the fierce black Futuristic Bionic Arm Sleeve by Marigold Shadows! The other amazing pieces I got vintage and at the Burning Man Swap Meet (See In Dust I Trust). We decided to get a little wild and use a yellow smoke bomb for this Look, giving it an extra fierce extra edgy apocalypse vibe!

Look 3 went back to the soft and sensual with the “Tie Dye Cleopatra.” We wanted to embrace all sides of the desert goddess, with edgy, extra, and of course classic! Since Cleopatra is more feminine, we shot next to a few desert bushes to really switch up the mood. Look 3 is comprised of mostly vintage (like my life) with a tank top that I actually tie dyed pink myself (to cover a stain from the wash… I do that a lot. But that’s a whole ‘nother story. Haha)
